What Does ‘Handle’ Mean in Betting?
“Handle” refers to the total amount of money wagered on a particular event or game. It is used as a measure of betting activity and is usually expressed as a dollar amount. The handle is used to calculate the amount of revenue generated by a particular event or game and can be used to measure the popularity of a particular sport or event.
Although similar, ‘handle’ should not be confused with the GGR (Gross Gaming Revenue) which is the amount wagered on a game or event minus the amount paid out in winnings.
For Example
Nevada Sportsbooks announced a handle of almost $180m on Superbowl LVII
