Game Preview
The Defenders finally took their first loss of the season last week. After a stellar 6-0 start to the year, they lost in the most unlikely game, against the 0-6 Guardians. It was an incredibly close and exciting game between the best and worst team, which is a testament to the parity of the XFL. Nonetheless, DC took a loss in that game, and is now 1 game from falling out of a playoff spot. They need to bounce back quickly.
Seattle picked up their 5th straight win last week, improving to 5-2 on the season. After a tumultuous 0-2 start, the Sea Dragons have emerged as one of the XFL’s most dangerous teams. Unfortunately, in the brutal north division, their 5-2 record is only good enough for 3rd place, which would not qualify them for a playoff spot. The pressure is on for Seattle to avenge their opening-week loss against the Defenders here.
Picks
When these two teams first met in the season-opener, the Defenders managed to win by 4 points at home. That narrow margin bodes well for the Sea Dragons’ ability to win the rematch in Seattle, especially with how well they’ve been playing as of late. Their next two games against DC and St. Louis will determine the fate of their season, and I predict a strong start to that stretch with a 26-22 win over DC.
