XFL: Renegades vs Guardians Odds, and Picks (Apr 8)

By ยท Updated 2 years ago
  • The Renegades came up short against the Sea Dragons, losing 24-15.
  • Orlando won a thriller, 37-36, against the undefeated Defenders.
  • These two teams last met on March 5, in a game that the Renegades won 10-9.

The Renegades (3-4) and the Guardians (1-6) take each other on for a key rematch. Both teams are still alive in a very weak south division, but desperately need a win here to maintain any postseason hopes.

Game Preview

Arlington was unable to hold off Seattle at home last week, falling 24-15, and dropping to 3-4 on the season. The Renegades have the XFL’s worst offense, averaging only 13 points per game on the season. Despite their league-worst offense and -32 point differential, Arlington is currently sitting in one of the 4 playoff spots, thanks to a weak division. They just need to find a way to win a few more games to stay in.

The Guardians finally got their first win of the season last week, in an unpredictable fashion. After starting out 0-6, Orlando drew a matchup against their polar opposites, the 6-0 Defenders. Instead of a blowout in DC’s favor, the Guardians managed to keep the game close from wire-to-wire, eventually winning it by a score of 37-36. That thrilling win could be just what they need to make an improbably late playoff push.

Picks

The Guardians are miraculously only 2 games out of a playoff spot, despite starting the season 0-6. Their thrilling win against the XFL’s top-ranked team could give them momentum here as they host another home game. Both of these teams have a lot on the line with a postseason berth being realistic, but this matchup against the struggling Renegades is ideal for Orlando. I see the Guardians winning this one 16-13.
