Game Preview
Vegas led the Battlehawks 17-8 late in the 4th quarter last week. When it seemed like they were going to close the game out, they allowed St. Louis to score a 64-yard touchdown on a 4th down fake punt. They went backwards 20 yards on their next drive, punting, and allowing the Battlehawks to get a quick field goal and then win in overtime. The Vipers are eliminated, but will still aim to rebound from their collapse.
The Roughnecks led the Brahmas for much of their game on Sunday, but allowed San Antonio to surge back into the game and force overtime late. Fortunately for Houston, they were able to hold them off in OT, getting a very important win. The victory snapped a 3-game losing streak for the Roughnecks, and clinched a playoff spot for them as well. They’ll seek to build more momentum before the postseason.
Picks
Having been officially eliminated, the Vipers are only playing for pride at this point. Meanwhile, the Roughnecks may have clinched a playoff spot, but they are still fighting for home-field advantage. They’re at home in this game, as the better team, and with more to play for. Barring any major surprises, Houston should be able to walk away with another solid win in this game. I’ll take them to win it by a score of 25-17.
