Game Preview
Vegas fell short against the Roughnecks last week, dropping to 2-7 on the season. Like the Guardians, the Vipers have had an unideal 2023 XFL re-launch, seeing both a worse record and decreased attendance when compared to last season. Their move from Tampa Bay to Las Vegas is a portion of it, but their lackluster play has certainly not helped. The Vipers will attempt to end the season on the right note here.
The Sea Dragons got an enormously important win over the Battlehawks last week, making a statement in their 30-12 win, and keeping their playoff hopes alive. The tiebreaker between Seattle and St. Louis is complicated and could still change based on next week’s results, so Seattle’s best path to the playoffs is with both a win and a Battlehawks loss. They need to handle business on their end and win this game.
Picks
I feel pretty comfortable about picking the Sea Dragons to win this game. Anything can happen on any given Sunday, but Seattle gets the benefit of playing at home against a team with 4 fewer wins than them. Combine that with their motivation spurred by the necessity to win this game and the Vipers’ inability to make this game affect their standing, and I see Seattle winning. I wouldn’t trust them to cover, though.
