Event Preview
The Mexican Open is the event taking place on the PGA Tour this weekend, as players compete across 7,456 yards at Vidanta Vallarta. This event is a par 71, and it offers a purse of $7.7 million. The tournament record par score is held by Alvaro Ortiz and Justin Hueber, who both finished 23-under, while Austin Smotherman holds the aggregate record.
Jon Rahm is certainly the best place to start when assessing the contenders this weekend, as he is the short-priced favorite to land success. The Spaniard claimed success in the event last year, which was also the first time that it was held at Vidanta Vallarta. He comes into the event in excellent form, having won The Masters at the start of the month, and finishing in a tie for 15th at the RBC Heritage.

However, he is plenty short enough in the betting to look elsewhere for some value this weekend. Tony Finau was excellent in this event 12 months ago, as he finished one shot off the lead. He is incredibly consistent after making the cut in each of his previous ten appearances. However, he is yet to win an event over that period.
Gary Woodland is also a very familiar player at the top of the betting, and isnโt without his chance this weekend. The 2019 U.S. Open champion has already finished in the top ten in two events this year, and has held his own in competitive fields after taking a tie for ninth in the Genesis Invitational.
Mexican Open Predictions
Given Rahmโs price for the event this weekend, we have opted to look elsewhere. Gary Woodland is a player we really like this weekend, as he has been competitive in recent outings, finishing in a tie for 14th at The Masters, before making the cut once again at the RBC Heritage.
