Event Preview
The Tour Championship is one of the standout events on the PGA Tour, and is typically one of the final events on the calendar. It is also a hugely lucrative event for players involved, with the winner picking up $18 million in prize money. Unlike other events on the PGA Tour, the event adopts a slightly different format.
Players who have picked up the most FedEx Cup points throughout the season will start with an advantage over their rivals. Therefore, this weekend, Scottie Scheffler starts the event at ten under, with Viktor Hovland starting at eight under and Rory McIlroy beginning the event at seven under. Other players that will have healthy starting positions, include Jon Rahm, Lucas Glover, and Max Homa, who start at six under, five under, and four under, respectively.

Scheffler starts with the healthy advantage this weekend, so it is little surprise that he is a clear favorite at the top of the betting. However, the American also started the event 12 months ago with a huge six-shot advantage over McIlroy. But, McIlroy landed a historic third triumph at the Tour Championship in dramatic fashion.
However, the American looks to be in hot form to avenge that defeat last season. But, his main competition could come in the form of Hovland. The Norwegian is in red-hot form after setting a new course record to win the BMW Championship last weekend. It could be challenging to overlook his chances after finishing in a tie for fifth last year.
Tour Championship Prediction
Scheffler makes an obvious claim this weekend, while McIlroy is more than capable of chasing down his rival. However, we will take a chance on Rahm landing success. The Spanish player is just four shots off the leader, and he could put instant pressure on the American with a birdie or two in the opening round.
