Race Preview

There will be exciting racing action at Del Mar this Saturday, as the G1 Bing Crosby Stakes is the tenth race on the card. A talented field will go to post for the huge race, with a field of 12 set to compete over six furlongs for the $400,000 purse. Dr Schivel heads the betting for trainer Mark Glatt, as the five-year-old looks for a second win in the race. He returned to action in May with an easy win at Santa Anita, but he could finish only fifth in the G1 Metropolitan Handicap on his previous start.

There is certainly reason to look away from the favorite this weekend, such is the talent of the field. Spirit of Makena takes his chance in this company on Saturday after winning each of his three starts this season. The latest of those was an excellent success at Santa Anita in the G2 Triple Bend Stakes. He deserves to take this opportunity, but lack of success at this level would be a concern from a betting perspective.

The Chosen Vron is also a solid contender this weekend after winning on each of his previous four starts this season. He is certainly a runner that knows how to get his head in front after winning 12 from 16 career starts. However, his record in graded company would be a huge concern for those betting on the five-year-old at a short price.

Anarchist could be one of the more progressive contenders this weekend, as the four-year-old has finished in the top two in all of his six starts this season. However, he has finished second in five from six this season, including in the G2 True North on his previous appearance. Still, he retains plenty of potential, and he could play a huge role.

Bing Crosby Stakes Prediction

This is a hot Grade 1, and there is no shortage of leading contenders. Anarchist looks like a solid contender to finish in the top three, but a chance on victory will be taken on The Chosen Vron. The five-year-old looks better than ever this season, and he could benefit from a solid draw at Del Mar.
