Race Preview
Major action on the Road to the Kentucky Derby is set for this Saturday, as the G3 Gotham Stakes is held at Aqueduct. A talented field will go to post for the race, and it could have an immediate impact on the outright odds for the first leg of the Triple Crown.
Sand Devil should take a lot of beating for the Linda Rice yard. The three-year-old has set the highest speed ratings of the runners in this field, and was impressive on his second start as a three-year-old when getting the better of National Identity in the Damon Runyon Stakes. Up in trip this weekend.

Sacrosanct is also a runner with very solid claims this weekend. The Brad Cox yard already has a number of leading chances in the Derby, but this three-year-old will need to improve after only narrowly beating National Identity in the New York Stallion Great White Way. However, his experience over a mile is a major plus after winning the Sleepy Hollow last October.
Calling Card is the runner for the Michael Maker yard this weekend. The three-year-old boasts some consistent speed ratings, but more will be needed on Saturday. He was last in action finishing eighth in the G3 Lecomte Stakes, but he does have winning course and distance form in the book.
Gotham Stakes Picks
A chance could be taken on the progressive Normandy Coast for trainer Eddie Kenneally this weekend.
The three-year-old has improved on every start to this point, which included reaching a speed figure of 115 when winning over six furlongs at Fair Grounds in January. Up to a mile for the first time this weekend, but pedigree suggests that he should continue improving.
