Preview
San Francisco had gone 7-1 in their 8 games prior to Wednesday’s loss, finally climbing back to .500 on the season. They’ll aim to bounce back on Thursday against Milwaukee, and keep their hot play going. The Giants have gotten a breakout year from Thairo Estrada, who is hitting .309 with an .832 OPS so far this season. Estrada’s career average is .265, and his career OPS is .743. They’ll look for him to keep producing.
The Brewers outscored the Astros 10-0 on Tuesday and Wednesday, winning both games and locking up the series win. They remain two games ahead of the Pirates for 1st place in the NL Central, with the ability to further that gap here. Milwaukee has gone just 9-13 since starting the year 18-9, but are beginning to heat up again. They need their offense to be more consistent. 3B Brian Anderson leads the team in RBIs.
Prediction
Both of these teams have been playing better baseball as of late. This should be a thoroughly interesting series, that could go either way. The Giants have a capable starting pitcher in Logan Webb (2.91 ERA) on the mound here, but the Brewers will have the home-field advantage. I honestly could see either team winning, but I feel more confident about Milwaukee’s chances. I’ll take the Brewers to win this one, 6-4.
