Game Preview
Baltimore got a key win on Wednesday, taking down the Athletics, 8-7. They won thanks to a walk-off solo home run by catcher Adley Rutschman. The victory lifted the Orioles back above .500 and earned them a series win in their first 4-game series of the season. They’ll now turn their attention towards earning more wins against a struggling White Sox team. Baltimore improved quite a bit last year, and aims to build on it.
The White Sox dropped to 5-8 with their loss to the Twins on Wednesday, continuing to underperform. They’ve yet to win a series this season, going 3-6 since opening against Houston. Chicago went 81-81 last season in a disappointing year, after making the postseason in the two years prior. They hope to return to the playoffs this season, but need to bounce back from this slow start as soon as possible to have a shot.
Prediction
This should be a very close and entertaining game. Both teams have strong starting pitchers on the mound. The Orioles will start Tyler Wells (3.27 ERA), while the White Sox plan to use Mike Clevinger (3.48 ERA). The home field advantage gives Chicago an additional benefit, but I don’t trust them with how they’ve played so far. Baltimore is young, scrappy, and talented. I see them getting the win in this game.
