Fight Preview
Jiri Prochazka (29-3-1) is a former UFC Light Heavyweight champion who had to vacate his title last year after suffering a shoulder injury. Exactly 470 days after beating Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Glover Teixeira in the battle for the 205lb title, “Denisa” is fighting again.
This time, his opponent is kickboxing expert Alex Pereira (8-2). “Poatan” is a former champ in the UFC Middleweight division, who made his Light Heavyweight debut last July when we saw him defeat Jan Blachowicz by a split decision.
In the fight with Blachowicz, Pereira landed 70 strikes, but they weren’t powerful enough to knock the Polish fighter out. We suspect he won’t be able to KO the Czech fighter either.

Another interesting thing about that fight is that Pereira got taken down three times by Blachowicz, who made two (unsuccessful) submission attempts. Maybe Prochazka will do better?
Jiri Prochazka vs. Alex Pereira Prediction
Our Prochazka vs. Pereira prediction is that the Czech fighter probably won’t try to out-strike the Brazilian. Instead, he’ll try to take him down and finish him by submission.
Sure, grappling isn’t Prochazka’s preferred style of fighting, but he did manage to finish Teixeira with a rear-naked choke in his previous fight. If he was able to do it against him, why wouldn’t he do the same against Pereira?
