Fight Preview
Alex Pereira is 9-2 overall in MMA, while before starting his martial arts career, he had fantastic success with kickboxing. Knowing this, it’s no surprise that he’s considered one of the best strikers in the UFC. He lands 5.00 significant strikes per minute in the UFC, while his knockout-to-win ratio is 77.77%.
What’s interesting, however, is that only one of his KO/TKO wins happened in the UFC Light Heavyweight division. It happened in the fight for the title last November when he beat Jiri Prochazka.
The two were fighting for the title which was vacated by Jamahal Hill who suffered an Achilles tendon injury last summer.
Similarly to Pereira, Hill too is a fantastic striker. He’s 12-1-1 overall with seven wins by KO/TKO. He lands even more significant strikes than Pereira (7.31) and has KO-ed many light heavyweights in the past, including Thiago Santos, Johhny Walker, Jimmy Crute, etc. Can he add Pereira to the list?
Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill Prediction
There’s no arguing that Alex Pereira is an incredible striker, but this guy just doesn’t have much experience with fighting in the 205lb division. Jamahal Hill, on the other hand, has been a light heavyweight his whole career. This is why we suspect that he might be too powerful for Pereira.
Pick: Jamahal Hill
