Fight Preview
Sean Strickland just loves beating people up. The evidence of this is that he hits his opponents 5.91 times on average every 60 seconds.
Strickland also seems to have no problems with getting hit. He absorbs 4.33 significant strikes a minute, which is why it’s really surprising that he only got KO-ed two times in his professional career.
Both of those losses happened against Brazilians with incredible striking skills – Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Alex Pereira. Now, he’s fighting against another Brazilian fighter who too is a fantastic striker.
In fact, Paulo Costa lands more significant strikes per minute than those two guys. Costa also gets hit a lot, but he’s only suffered one loss by TKO – to Israel Adesanya.
Strickland vs. Costa Prediction
We think this is going to be a bloody brawl, the outcome of which will come to who’s tougher. Well, we think it’s Costa, even though betting odds suggest otherwise.
In his last three fights, he fought against such powerful hitters as Marvin Vettori, Luke Rockhold, and Rob Whittaker, but none of them managed to KO him. Neither will Strickland – that’s our prediction.
But what about the other way around? We suspect it might happen. Not only is Costa a very prolific striker, but he also looks huge right now. And with mass usually comes power, meaning that he might be powerful enough to turn the lights off for Strickland.
