Fight Preview
Brad Tavares (20-8) and Gregory Rodrigues (14-5) are two hard-hitting middleweights who don’t mind getting hit. Tavares lands 3.38 significant strikes per minute while getting hit 3.03 times on average. Rodrigues hits his opponents 5.99 times a minute and gets hit 5.67 times.
Both of them are also great when it comes to takedown defense, with neither of them ever suffering a loss by submission. When it comes to their wins, most of Tavares’s wins happened by decision, while Rodrigues won 9 fights by KO/TKO. In fact, each of his last four wins happened this way.
This explains why UFC odds are in his favor. Rodrigues is a -230 favorite, but there’s one thing that’s going in favor of his opponent. Tavares has much more experience fighting at a top level.
This guy has fought some real legends of the middleweight division, including the new champ, Dricus du Plessis. The South African fighter did beat him but only after three rounds of intense fighting.
Tavares also went the distance with Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero. When it comes to his wins, the most valuable scalp he took was in his most recent fight in which he defeated the former champ of the 185lb division, Chris Weidman.
Brad Tavares vs. Gregory Rodrigues Prediction
Brad Tavares got hit by Dricus du Plessis 113 times one year and a half ago. The South African finishing expert failed to finish Tavares and we don’t think Gregory Rodrigues can do it either. Tavares has a granite chin as well as a high fighting IQ, which should be enough to keep him on his feet until the final bell.

But will the judges score in his favor? We think that betting on that scenario would be a smart thing to do. After all, Tavares’s odds are awesome.
