Jan Blachowicz vs. Carlos Ulberg Fight Preview
Given that he’s already 42, it’s fair to say that Jan Blachowicz is running out of time. Nevertheless, he’s still highly regarded in the UFC, the evidence being that he’s ranked No. 3 in the UFC Light Heavyweight Division.
This may seem strange as he’s been without a win since 2022. However, there’s an explanation. In his most recent fight, we saw him losing to Alex Pereira by a split decision (in 2023).
A year earlier, he fought the current champ, Magomed Ankalaev, in 2022, and their fight ended in a split draw – this makes him the only opponent since 2018 to avoid a loss against Ankalaev.
Now, he’s supposed to fight Carlos Ulberg, who’s 11-1 in MMA, 19-2 in kickboxing, and 11-0 in boxing. He’s a striking machine, landing 7.20 significant strikes per minute – the highest average in the division.
He also has solid takedown defense (83%) and lands 0.72 takedowns per 15 minutes. Ulberg’s numbers are impressive, but he hasn’t faced someone of Blachowicz’s caliber.
His toughest UFC fight was against Volkan Oezdemir last year, winning by decision with 98 significant strikes – just two more than his opponent.
Jan Blachowicz vs. Carlos Ulberg Prediction
The UFC London co-main event is Carlos Ulberg’s chance to show that he’s ready to take his fighting to the next level. If he beats Jan Blachowicz, he’ll show Dana White & Co. that he deserves to be in the conversation for the title.
