Fight Preview

Shamil Gaziev (12-0) gets to fight his first main event after fighting only once in the UFC. It happened last December against Martin Buday, which saw him beat the Slovak by a TKO in round 2.

Gaziev entered that fight aggressively and kept punching and kneeing his opponent until he eventually finished him. Buday showed heart in that fight by fighting for more than a round, but it really was clear from the first minute who’s going to win.

It was Gaziev’s eighth win by KO/TKO, but he has other weapons in his arsenal as well. As you’d expect from someone born and raised in Dagestan, he’s a great wrestler. He showed his wrestling/grappling prowess in Dana White’s Contender Series in which he beat Greg Velasco by a first-round submission.

But can this work against Jairzinho Rozenstruik (13-5)? Betting odds suggest it will, but we don’t think Bigi Boy should be underestimated. After all, he’s more powerful than any fighter Gaziev has faced so far.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Shamil Gaziev Prediction

Gaziev is an aggressive fighter who likes to throw a lot of devastating strikes at his opponents from the very first bell. But Bigi Boy just needs to land one punch to end the fight in his favor. This guy had a nuclear option in his fists, the evidence being that his knockout-to-win ratio is 92.30%.

Plus, before switching to the MMA, he had an impressive kickboxing career with a 76-8-1 record and 64 knockouts. That said, if there’s a guy who can stop Gaziev’s fantastic run, it’s Rozenstruik.
