UFC Vegas 105 odds suggest Josh Emmett (19-4) will probably lose on April 5. He’s priced at +200, but something similar was the case in his previous fight.
He was a +225 underdog against Bryce Mitchell but silenced the doubters with a brutal first-round knockout. That KO left Mitchell convulsing on the canvas, proving Emmett’s power is still a serious threat.
The probable reason why he’s an underdog again is that he’s already 40, so bookmakers probably doubt his longevity.
Plus, before beating Mitchell, he was on a two-fight skid. He lost to Yair Rodriguez (for the interim featherweight title) and Ilia Topuria in a Fight of the Night bout.
A highlight-reel KO could put him back in the title picture, but getting past Lerone Murphy is a different challenge. Murphy has yet to taste defeat inside the cage.
Murphy is 15-0-1, with his only draw coming in his UFC debut. Some argue he hasn’t faced elite competition. In fact, his biggest wins were those in his last two fights – against Dan Ige and Edson Barboza.
Against Barboza, he landed 220 significant strikes while absorbing just 79, showing that he’s an elite striker. In his fight with Ige, Murphy showed that he’s tough as nails – he was knocked down early but fought back for a decision win.
