Event Preview
For just the second time, the Enjoy Illinois 300 will be staged on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule. The race replaced the Pocono Organics CBD 325, and was added to the schedule at the start of last season. A total of 300 miles is covered in the race, and it is made up by 240 laps. The first stage consists of 45 laps, before stage two sees 95 laps completed. Meanwhile, the final stage sees the final 100 laps contested.
Joey Logano claimed victory in the first edition of the race 12 months ago, as he landed victory following a dramatic period of overtime. The win was a major success for Team Penske, and they will be among the leading contenders to repeat that success in 2023.

Kyle Larson will be among the front runners for success this weekend, despite struggling to 30th place in the Coca-Cola 600 last weekend. That was the second straight race on the Cup Series schedule that he had failed to finish in the top 20. Last weekend’s race winner was Ryan Blaney, who moved up to second in the overall standings with his first win of the season.
Ross Chastain still leads the overall standings, but he is still yet to win a race this season. William Byron could be a solid contender this weekend, as his incredible run of form continued after finishing second. That finish means that he has now finished in the top four in each of the last four races.
