Event Preview
Exciting NASCAR action resumes this weekend, as the Quaker State 400 takes place at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This race was first staged in July 1960, and it has become one of the most popular races on the schedule. It is one of two that is held in Atlanta, with the first coming in the second round in the form of the Dixie 500.
This weekend’s race is staged over 400.4 miles, with a total of 260 laps set to be completed. The first stage is made up of 60 laps, before the final two stages are both made up of 100 laps. Cale Yarborough is the most successful driver in the history if the race with six wins, while Dale Earnhardt has won the race on five occasions.

Chase Elliott is among the leading contenders this weekend after landing victory for the first time in this race last year. There will be pressure on Elliott this weekend, as he currently sits down in 24th in the overall standings. However, he has been incredibly consistent in recent races, having finished in the top five in each of the last three.
Martin Truex Jr will be looking to get back on track after finishing 32nd last weekend, but he remains the overall leader in the Drivers’ Championship. William Byron could cut his advantage with a victory this weekend, while Ross Chastain is also hard to rule out after finishing in the top five on six occasions already this term.
