Event Preview

The fourth race on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule will take place this weekend at Phoenix Raceway, as the Shriners Children’s 500 is staged. This race has been staged annually since 2005, and it is one of two races that are staged at Phoenix Raceway throughout the season. William Byron landed victory in the 2023 edition of this race, and he will be among the front runners to record a second straight win this weekend.

This weekend’s race will cover a total of 312 miles, with the first stage being contested over 60 laps. The next 125 laps will be for the second stage, with the final stage seeing the final 127 laps being completed. In total 312 laps will make up the race distance this weekend. Kevin Harvick is the most dominant driver in the history of the race, having won this race on five previous occasions.

Kyle Larson will come into this round in excellent form, as the former champion is chasing a second straight win following his dominant success in the Pennzoil 400 last weekend. Larson currently sits top of the Drivers’ Championship standings at this early stage, but he has never previously landed victory in this race, which would be a slight concern.

There is little to separate the top drivers’ in the current standings, with Ryan Blaney having started the season in excellent form. He has finished in the top three in each of the last two races. William Byron has also been consistent since his win on the opening weekend, as he finished tenth in the Pennzoil 400 last weekend.

Shriners Children’s 500 Prediction

There is no shortage of leading chances this weekend, but we will be happy to give Ross Chastain a chance. The driver has finished in the top ten in each of the last two races, and he could be closer to a win this weekend.
