  • The Nuggets picked up a key road victory in Game 3.
  • Miami’s 109-94 defeat was their 2nd double-digit loss.
  • Denver is 4-1 on this season as a whole against the Heat.

The Nuggets (67-33) and the Heat (57-46) face off in Game 4 of the 2023 NBA Finals. Denver bounced back with a road win in Game 3, reclaiming home-court advantage. Miami really needs to win in Game 4.

Preview

Denver got a crucial win in Game 3, taking a 2-1 lead with 2 games remaining at home. They got the win they needed in Miami, and can now further the gap in Game 4. Nikola Jokić was once again sensational, finishing with 32 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jamal Murray also had an important bounce-back game, with 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Rookie Christian Braun was very solid off the bench.

The Heat got strong performances from Jimmy Butler (28 points) and Bam Adebayo (22 points, 17 rebounds) in their Game 3 loss. Unfortunately, the rest of the lineup really struggled to get going, shooting just 16 of 47 (34%) from the field. Miami has had some trouble putting away games when their can’t rely on their offense. Despite their stellar defense, they need to play much better to avoid a loss in Game 4.

Picks

This series will be very different based on the results of a crucial Game 4, where it could be evened out 2-2, just as easily as the Nuggets could take a 3-1 lead. I believe this game will be closer than Game 3 was, but I still feel pretty good about Denver’s chances of winning. They are the better team, and if they keep playing to their potential, they will be very difficult to stop. I’ll take the Nuggets to win this one, 111-105.
