Game Preview
The Spurs were solid in the preseason, posting two wins and losses apiece. However, both of their defeats were on the road in Miami and Houston, which signals that they still have problems when playing outside of San Antonio.
For some, Victor Wembanyama could be in contention for winning the NBA MVP award. We aren’t in that group, but he will be among the top 20 players in the NBA, particularly with veteran point guard Chris Paul, who brings experience to the team.
Dallas landed Klay Thompson. After last year’s finals, that’s a sign that the Mavs are eyeing the title. With him, the already shooting-potent backcourt will be even more deadly. This will stretch rival defenses even more, allowing Luka to have more space.
Defense will be the key to all success. We saw flashes of unreal potential in that area, and if Jason Kidd manages to tighten up the situation additionally, Dallas will be a huge contender for the Larry O’Brien trophy.
Spurs vs. Mavericks Head to Head
The Mavs swept the Spurs last year, beating them in all four games. In each one, Dallas scored at least 113 points.
Spurs vs. Mavericks Prediction
The Mavericks’ spread is -7.5 points, and we won’t touch that yet until we see how they open the championship. However, we aren’t questioning their victory here, and our money is on Dallas’ victory.
