Golden State survived to see another day on Wednesday, winning 121-106 in Game 5 against the Lakers. It was an absolutely necessary win, as the Warriors continue to face the brink of elimination. Game 6 will be an even tougher task, with the game returning to Los Angeles. If they can manage to win it, they’ll host Game 7 back at home. Golden State needs a classic “Game 6 Klay” performance to stay alive once more.
The Lakers were unable to close the series out in Game 6, taking their 2nd loss of the series. They return home for Game 6, with a great opportunity to end this series in the same way they did against the Grizzlies in the 1st round. Los Angeles had a scare when Anthony Davis received a blow to the head late in Wednesday’s game, but it is believed that he avoided a concussion. Davis will need to be 100% in Game 6.
Picks
The Warriors are an extremely difficult team to bet against in the playoffs, not just because of the ability of several of their players to have sensational games, but also because of their consistently strong playoff record over the past decade. That being said, LeBron James is the only player capable of matching that playoff record, and the Lakers hold the home-court advantage in this game. I think they close it out here.
