Preview

Arizona dropped 122 points on Morgan State in their opener, showcasing their impressive depth. Eight different players reach double figures in the win, with several players making an impact off the bench. The Wildcats were impressive on offense and defense, and will have a chance to prove they are capable even against top competition if they can play that well against Duke. Their defense will be tested much more.

Duke looked stellar in their opener against Dartmouth, cruising to a 38-point victory. The Blue Devils have high expectations for this season, and already face their first tough test against #12 Arizona. Sophomore Kyle Flipowski continued his excellent play in the first game of year two, finishing with 25 points and 7 rebounds. He’ll be tested defensively against a high-flying Wildcats team, which will be a great matchup.

Prediction

This is the best game of the college basketball season so far, with two top-12 teams facing off. Duke is expected to compete for a 1-seed this season, and opened the year ranked #2 overall. I believe the Blue Devils have the potential to reach those expectations, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they struggle early on as a young team. Arizona’s offense is a tough matchup, and I see the Wildcats pulling off the upset here.
