Preview
Indiana continued to surge past their opposition last week as their win streak climbed to 13 games. The Hoosiers have not lost once since their ugly defeat against Stanford in the opening week of the season. They also haven’t faced any currently ranked teams since then, making this game against Iowa that much more crucial. Indiana should dominate the frontcourt, but they’ll need to find a way to cover Caitlin Clark.
Iowa has had a similar stretch to Indiana, winning 13 straight games against mostly unranked opposition. They got revenge against Kansas State back in November, but haven’t faced another ranked team since. Caitlin Clark has been as sensational as expected and leads the nation in scoring. That being said, Iowa still needs to prove that they have enough support behind Clark to consistently defeat other top teams.
Prediction
This should be a stellar matchup between two top Big-10 teams, with both aiming to pick up a signature win in their first game against ranked opposition in a while. On a neutral court, I’d give a slight advantage to Iowa, with Indiana’s more deep roster providing a legitimate chance for the upset. However, on Iowa’s home court, I don’t see the Hoosiers pulling it off. I’ll take the Hawkeyes to win it by a modest amount.
