Preview
Iowa State continued their stellar play last week, defeating Kansas 79-75, and climbing to 5-2 in Big-12 conference play. The Cyclones jumped from #23 to #12 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, and also improved their tournament projection from a 7-8 seed to a 3-4 seed. They’ll have plenty more chances to climb even further, starting with this tough road matchup against #18 Baylor. G Tamin Lipsey will lead the way again.
Baylor snapped their own 3-game losing streak on Wednesday, getting a much-needed win on the road against UCF. They’ll aim to keep up their momentum as they return back home for a key ranked matchup against Iowa State. The Bears have been inconsistent this season, but are at their best when they are playing good defense. That will be a necessity, with 9 of their last 11 games coming against ranked teams.
Prediction
Pretty much every Big-12 conference matchup this season has been competitive, especially when it’s a game featuring two ranked teams. In this matchup, the Cyclones have been the far hotter team as of late. That being said, they’ll face a tremendous hurdle against a Bears team with home-court advantage. I rarely pick the road team in conference matchups, but I’m leaning towards the red-hot Cyclones here.
NCAAB Picks:
- Iowa State 75, Baylor 71 ()
