  • Kentucky continued to roll last week, surging past Vanderbilt and winning 93-77.
  • Tennessee picked up their 3rd straight top-20 win, after defeating South Carolina.
  • These two teams last faced off on February 3, in a game that Tennessee won 103-92.

Selection Sunday is just two weeks away! Let’s look at this matchup between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Tennessee Volunteers. Both teams are on track to make the tournament, aiming to improve their seed.

Preview

Kentucky continued their hot play, improving to 6-1 in their last 7 games. They’ll face their toughest task of the season in the finale, taking on #4 Tennessee on the road. They came up short against the Volunteers at home last month, but have heated up quite a bit since then. The Wildcats offense has been sensational, but they need to find some defensive consistency here. Kentucky currently projects to receive a 5-seed.

Tennessee has dominated the competition as of late. They’ve played three consecutive games against top-20 teams, winning all three by 7 or more points. The Volunteers have won seven games in a row, and have a chance to enter the SEC tournament with that total at 8. They’ll face yet another top-20 opponent in their regular season finale, with a chance to climb to a 1-seed up for grabs if they can claim the victory.

Prediction

This should be a very interesting and exciting game between two top SEC teams. Tennessee is a decently sized favorite on their home court for this game, but I would be wary of betting on them. They’re due for a loss and could face a trap game here with the SEC Tournament on the horizon. I’m taking a Wildcats upset.

NCAAB Picks:

  • Kentucky 78, Tennessee 75 (UK +8.5)
