NC State won a thriller against Florida State on Thursday, defeating them 88-80 in overtime. It was a close call for one of college basketball’s final six undefeated teams. The Wolfpack will face an even tougher test in this matchup, heading on the road to face off against #13 Virginia Tech. Their defense has been one of their best assets this season, but they struggled a bit against the Seminoles. They’ll look to bounce back.

Virginia Tech has now won six games in a row. They are somewhat tough to analyze, having gone 11-0 against unranked teams, but 0-2 in their two clashes against top-10 opponents. They’ll aim to get in the win column in those matchups against #3 NC State. Much of the Hokies expected success depends on Senior C Elizabeth Kitley, who has taken another step forward this year. She’ll be key again in this game.

Prediction

This should be a stellar matchup between the ACC’s top two teams this season. NC State has surged back into relevancy, after a down year last season, and matches up with another perennial contender in Virginia Tech. The Hokies have a key advantage playing at home, and that very well may be the difference in this game. I see this one coming down to the wire, with Virginia Tech ultimately pulling away and winning it.
