Preview
Nebraska continues to improve their standing on the NCAA Tournament bubble. After lingering right on the cut line for most of January and February, the Cornhuskers have won four in a row and made a leap to a projected 9-seed. Their chances of snapping their 10-year tournament drought are rapidly increasing. A road victory over Ohio State would bring them one step closer to competing for their first tournament win.
Ohio State finds themselves in 13th place in the Big Ten, unlikely to make the tournament. It’s been a huge collapse for a team that started the season 12-2 with a signature non-conference win over Alabama. A 1-8 stretch after that completely tanked their season. That being said, the Buckeyes have now won 3 of their last 5 games, with wins over Purdue and Michigan State. They are heating back up at just the right time.
Prediction
With signature wins over Alabama and Purdue, Ohio State may be closer to the Tournament bubble than many expect. That raises the stakes for this game considerably, with both teams having much to gain if they win. If this game took place two weeks ago, I’d feel confident in Nebraska winning. Yet, things have changed since then, with Ohio State looking like a different team lately. I’ll take the Buckeyes at home.
NCAAB Picks:
- Ohio State 75, Nebraska 71 (OSU -0.5)
