Preview
Purdue continued their stellar play last week, picking up their 6th straight win. They had a close call against the Wildcats on Wednesday, but emerged as the victors in double overtime. The Boilermakers are now 13-1 since they lost their first matchup against Northwestern. They currently project as a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament, but have few remaining chances to pick up ranked wins. This game will be crucial.
Wisconsin was stunned by Nebraska on Thursday. After entering halftime with a 16-point lead, the Badgers collapsed down the stretch. They allowed Nebraska to force overtime, before eventually losing the game to them. They fell to 2-3 over their last 5 road games, but fare much better at home. They’ll have a key opportunity back on their home court to pick up a signature win. G A.J. Storr will lead the way again.
Prediction
This is one of several key top-10 matchups happening this weekend. The winner of this game will become the outright leader of the Big-10 conference, and a frontrunner to land a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament. I’d expect both teams to play each other close, with this game coming down to the wire. Purdue’s size advantage with Zach Edey is notable, but I’d still favor the Badgers to win it by a narrow margin at home.
