The college basketball season is in full swing! Let’s preview the San Diego State vs Nevada Mountain West clash. They are both fighting to improve their chances of claiming an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.

Preview
San Diego State improved to 5-3 over their last 8 games after a solid 2-0 week. They struggled a bit on the road to start out Mountain West play, but have settled in since then. After picking up a key win over Utah State, they handled business at Air Force. The Aztecs are currently projected to receive a 5-seed in the tourney, but will still aim to further improve their standing. They face another tough road game here.
Nevada got back on track last week, after going 1-4 over their previous 5 games. The slide impacted their metrics quite a bit, putting the Wolf Pack on the outside of the projected NCAA Tournament field. That being said, they moved back in the right direction on Tuesday. They picked up a crucial 14-point road win over Utah State, their 4th Quad 1 win of the season. They can raise that total to 5 with a win over SDSU.
Prediction
Winning on the road has been even more difficult this season than in the past, especially in evenly ranked matchups. When these two teams faced off a few weeks ago at San Diego State, the Aztecs won by 12. I expect this game at Nevada to be much closer. San Diego State is the better team, but they’ll still face an uphill battle on the road. Ultimately, I see the Aztecs overcoming Nevada’s home-court advantage to win.
