NCAAB: Seton Hall vs #14 Marquette Odds, and Picks (Jan 27)

By ยท Updated 1 year ago
  • Seton Hall lost their second straight home game, falling to Providence, 67-63.
  • Marquette surged past Depaul, winning 86-73, and climbing to 14-3 on the year.
  • These two teams last faced off on January 6, in a game that Seton Hall won 78-75.

The college basketball season is in full swing! Let’s preview the upcoming Seton Hall vs Marquette game. Both of these teams are currently projected to make the tournament, and will aim to earn another key win.

Preview

Seton Hall currently projects as a 9-10 seed in the NCAA Tournament. That doesn’t give them a ton of cushion before the bubble, creating the need to pick up more Quadrant 1 wins. This matchup provides them with an opportunity to complete the season sweep of Marquette and pick up another big win. The Pirates are one of the rare teams this season that have actually performed as well on the road as at home.

Marquette got back in the win column last week, picking up back-to-back road victories. They return home for this next matchup against the Pirates. Currently in 4th place in the Big East, the Golden Eagles will be aiming to improve their conference standing with a win. Their defense is stellar, but their offense has suffered from some inconsistency. Marquette will keep relying on G Tyler Kolek to provide their offense.

Prediction

When these two teams faced off on Seton Hall’s home court a few weeks ago, the Pirates emerged as the victors of a very close matchup. I expect the rematch to be just as competitive, although it’ll be much more difficult for Seton Hall to earn the same result on the road. With Kolek and the Golden Eagles heating back up last week, I like their chances of evening out the season series with a home win over Seton Hall here.

NCAAB Picks:

  • Marquette 77, Seton Hall 70 ()
