At the same time, they also outscored their 3 ranked opponents by an average of 12 ppg. They’ll enter their toughest test of the year playing stellar basketball.

LSU’s opener was not at all what they expected after winning it all in 2023, losing 92-78 to then-ranked #20 Colorado. Things have changed since then, with Colorado proving themselves as the #3 team in the country, while the Tigers have gone 18-1. They have one of the most star-studded lineups in the NCAA, but have also been vulnerable on offense at times. This game will be the ultimate test for LSU’s offense.

Prediction

This game is very likely a preview of the SEC Championship Game in two months, and could even be a preview of a potential Final Four matchup. A large chunk of college basketball’s most elite talent resides on these two rosters, in what should be an incredible game. South Carolina has looked truly unbeatable lately, but LSU’s home-court advantage will keep them in it. Ultimately, I like the Gamecocks to pull off the win.
