  • Texas Tech went 0-2 last week, losing in close games to TCU and Cincinnati.
  • Baylor managed to get back on track, snapping their 3-game losing streak.
  • These two teams last met on February 4, 2023, in a game Baylor won 89-62.

The college basketball season is in full swing! Let’s preview this week’s Texas Tech vs Baylor Big-12 game. Both of these teams are expected to make the NCAA Tournament, but can better their seeding with a win.

Preview

Texas Tech dropped to 2-3 over their last five games, after coming up short twice last week. They entered a tough road matchup against TCU with the momentum of two consecutive ranked wins, but struggled to overcome the Horned Frogs’ home-court advantage. The Red Raiders returned home for a much more winnable game against Cincinnati, but came up short once again. They’ll fight to bounce back this week.

Baylor snapped their 3-game losing streak with a couple of wins last week. They took down a vulnerable UCF squad on the road, before returning home to take on Iowa State. The Bears narrowly defeated the Cyclones, building even more momentum for this clash against Texas Tech. With a key matchup over the weekend against Kansas, Baylor needs to avoid falling into a trap game here. They’ll lean on their defense.

Prediction

The Big-12 continues to be an absolute gauntlet on a weekly basis. Prior to this week, Texas Tech was red hot and Baylor was on a losing streak. Things move fast in college basketball, with the Red Raiders already cooling off, while the Bears are now building a winning streak. Despite Baylor’s recent success, these two teams should match up pretty evenly. I see home-court advantage being the key factor in Baylor winning.
