Preview
Texas bounced back from their first loss to Baylor with a blowout of Texas Tech. The Longhorns remain ranked in the top-10 with a 14-1 record, and currently project as a 2-seed in the NCAA Tournament. They face an undefeated team once again this week, being tasked with traveling to 13-0 West Virginia. Texas is dangerous on both sides of the ball, but especially on defense. They’ll be aiming to stifle their opposition.
West Virginia is off to a tremendous start under 1st-year head coach Mark Kellogg. They are one of the final six undefeated teams, currently sitting at 13-0. They haven’t faced a very tough schedule yet, which only increases the importance of proving themselves in this game. While a loss wouldn’t be detrimental to the Mountaineers, a win could vault them from #24 into the top-10. They’ll face an uphill battle this week.
Prediction
This is another stellar matchup between two premier teams. I’ve been very tempted to pick the unbeaten Mountaineers to win at home, but I’m having trouble overlooking their schedule. On top of that, Texas has been consistently dominant this season. They’ve reached 100 or more points in five games already, and held their opponent to fewer than 60 points in nine games. I see the Longhorns pulling away in this one.
NCAAW Picks:
- Texas 77, West Virginia 69 ()
