Preview

Utah State continued to surge last week, dominating Wyoming and then narrowly escaping a tough road game against UNLV with a win. They’ve now won 15 games in a row, climbing to 16-1 on the season. The win streak has also launched the Aggies up to #16 in the AP Poll. They have a chance to continue leading a resurgent Mountain West, with a second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance also on their minds.

New Mexico picked up an important win over San Diego State, bouncing back from their loss against UNLV. The win was the first real rรฉsumรฉ builder for a Lobos team seeking to snap a 10-year NCAA Tournament drought. They’ve got a lot more work still to do, with this home game against Utah State providing another key chance. They’ll rely on leading scorer Jaelen House to provide them with offense.

Prediction

This should be an excellent Mountain West clash, and one that I went back and forth on for a while. As good as Utah State is, their close call against UNLV shows how hard it is to win on the road. This game will come down to the Aggies ability to overcome that disadvantage. I expect it to come down to the wire, but I ultimately see the red-hot Aggies doing just enough to win and increase their winning streak to 16 games.

NCAAB Picks:
