The college football season is in full swing. Let’s preview the upcoming Duke vs Florida State game. The Seminoles are aiming to stay in the top-4 with the first CFP rankings nearing. Duke continues to surprise.

Duke had another excellent defensive showing against NC State, holding them to just 3 points. The Blue Devils have allowed fewer than 10 points per game, allowing them to climb to a 5-1 start. With their only defeat coming on the road against #15 Notre Dame, Duke still has a chance to make the CFP. Road games against #4 Florida State, #10 UNC, and #21 Louisville will all be make or break for the Blue Devils chances.

Florida State pummeled Syracuse last week, climbing to 6-0 on the season. The Seminoles have two solid wins against #19 LSU and at Clemson, but otherwise do not have many more chances to prove themselves to the CFP committee. This game against Duke is their last game until the ACC title game against a ranked foe. They need QB Jordan Travis to continue his elite play against a very tough Duke defense to win here.

Prediction

This is one of the better spreads to bet on for this weekend. Despite Florida State’s excellent play, it’s hard to imagine them blowing Duke out. The Blue Devils have not allowed more than 21 points all season, which makes covering a 14-point spread pretty difficult. I ultimately see the Seminoles getting the win here, but I expect to see a pretty close and defensive matchup, with Duke keeping it low-scoring enough to cover.
