Preview
Florida State looked impressive in Week 2, surging to a 66-13 victory over Southern Miss. With a road trip to Clemson in Week 4 looming, they’ll need to avoid falling victim to a trap game against Boston College. That being said, their offense has looked elite so far this season, and should continue to tear it up this week. QB Jordan Travis played much better in Week 1 than Week 2, so he’ll be aiming to get back on track.
After a long weather delay, Boston College managed to escape the clutches of Holy Cross, avoiding the FCS-FBS upset. Holy Cross is ranked in the top-5 of the FCS, but it was still a subpar performance for the Eagles. Coupled with their loss to NIU in Week 1, who themselves lost to FCS SIU in Week 2, the Eagles have not built much confidence in their ability so far. They need to improve to avoid a blowout in Week 3.
Prediction
Home-field advantage is about all Boston College has going for them in this game. After performing at the same level as FCS competition for the first two weeks of the season, the Eagles could be in for a long game against Florida State. I don’t think they’ll win by 50+, but the Seminoles should control this game from start to finish. I feel pretty good about taking Florida State to win this game and cover the spread.
