  • Georgia was on bye last week, currently amidst a 34-game winning streak.
  • Florida was also on their bye, after improving to 5-2 in the previous week.
  • These two teams last met on October 29, 2022, in a game Georgia won 42-20.

The college football season is past the midway point. Let’s preview the upcoming Georgia vs Florida game. The Bulldogs will attempt to maintain their win streak, while the Gators fight to climb back into the Top 25.

Preview

Georgia had the week off to rest and prepare for this game. They’ve won 34 games in a row, dating back to 2021, and have remained in the #1 spot for the vast majority of that time. The Bulldogs haven’t had the toughest schedule so far, but it’s hard to dock the top team for something out of their control. They’ll have a chance to prove themselves on the road against a 5-2 Florida team that is on the cusp of the AP Top 25.

Florida was also off last week, giving them ample time to prepare for the biggest game of their season. The Gators are 1-1 against ranked competition so far, with a loss against Utah and a win over Tennessee. More recently, their 19-point loss to Kentucky and 2-point win over 2-5 South Carolina have raised some concerns. Four of the Gators final five games are against top-16 teams, so they’ll need to be at their best.

Prediction

Florida is a tough team to pin down. They have a 5-2 record, but other than their win against Tennessee, have not looked that good. This game will provide a test to see if Florida is more likely to finish closer to 6-6 or 8-4. Meanwhile, Georgia has been the best team in football for two years, but has also sleepwalked through an easy schedule. They could start slow, but I see the Bulldogs winning this one easily by the end.
