Preview
Kansas State climbed back into the top-25 this week, after another impressive victory. Over their last two games, the Wildcats outscored TCU and Houston 82-3. Their losses this season came on the road against #12 Missouri and #22 Oklahoma State, but they also have no ranked wins. They can change that this week against Texas, with a much higher chance to return to the Big-12 title game if they manage to defeat them.
Texas had a strong showing against BYU, winning 35-6. They climbed to #7 in the rankings, giving the Longhorns a legitimate chance to make the CFP if they can win out. Their 10-point road win over Alabama continues to be one of the best wins of any team so far. Texas won’t face another ranked team after this week until the Big-12 championship game, if they make it, so this game is crucial to their playoff chances.
Prediction
This is a matchup between last season’s Big-12 champion, and the team that is favorited to be this year’s champ. The Longhorns should have a pretty sizable advantage in this game at home. The closest team they played to Kansas State in the rankings was Kansas, who they defeated by 26 points. I see this game being a bit closer than that, but I’m ultimately taking Texas to win this game by double digits and cover.
