Preview
Kentucky surged past #22 Florida last week, earning another solid win and jumping from unranked to ranked #20 in the country. The Wildcats have looked very strong on both sides of the ball so far this year. In their 5 games thus far, they’ve outscored the opposition by an average score of 37-15. They’ll face by far their toughest competition this week at Georgia, but also have an opportunity for an incredible upset.
Georgia looked concerningly unimpressive again last week, despite their victory. After outscoring UT Martin and Ball State 93-10 in their first two games, the Bulldogs outscored South Carolina, UAB, and Auburn by a much more modest 100-55. Wins are still wins, but Georgia needs to avoid sleepwalking through any more games with their first ranked matchup of the season here. The defense will be crucial.
Prediction
Despite Georgia’s unimpressive victories over the past few weeks, they are still the defending two-time champions. It’s possible that the Bulldogs were just playing down to the level of their opposition, and will perform just fine against tougher teams. I can see Kentucky competing well enough to have a good shot at covering the spread, but ultimately Georgia should win this one without much issue. Give me the Bulldogs.
