Miami came up short in a huge game against Toledo last week. It was a battle of 6-1 MAC teams, but the Redhawks trailed for much of the game, before making it close late. They’ll aim to bounce back this week in another tough matchup against Ohio. This game may determine which team wins the MAC East and has a chance to take on Toledo in the MAC title game. Miami’s defense is the key to locking up that rematch.

Ohio bounced back from the loss to Northern Illinois with a win over Western Michigan. After a strong 5-game stretch where they beat Iowa State and gave up just 10 points per game, the Bobcats have cooled off a bit. They were outscored 40-33 in their last two games, against teams with a 6-10 combined record. They have a great chance to bounce back this week against Miami and claim the outright MAC East lead.

Prediction

I’m a bit surprised to see a relatively large spread in this game. These are both capable MAC teams that should match up pretty evenly. If anything, the Redhawks have been the more impressive team over the last few weeks. That being said, Ohio has more history of success, and the home-field advantage. I see this one going right down to the wire, with the Bobcats ultimately winning it, but not covering the spread.
