  • Michigan dominated Penn State on the road, winning by a score of 24-15.
  • Maryland snapped their 4-game losing streak against Nebraska last week.
  • These two teams last met on September 24, 2022, in a game Michigan won 34-27.

The college football season is at its peak! Let’s preview the upcoming Michigan vs Maryland Big-10 game. The Wolverines got their first signature win last week, and will look to avoid a trap game against Maryland.

Preview

Michigan had no trouble against Penn State on Saturday, quieting any concerns that the Wolverines may struggle once they finally face a ranked team. Instead, they looked as good as every other week, leading from wire-to-wire on the road. Michigan is undoubtedly already thinking about their Week 12 date with Ohio State, but needs to avoid falling prey to a big trap game against a decent Maryland team this week.

Maryland snapped their 4-game losing streak last week, defeating Nebraska, 13-10. After a 5-0 start, the Terrapins are now level at 5-5, needing one more win to clinch a spot in a bowl game. They’ll have tough sledding to get there, with this game against #3 Michigan followed up by a road trip to Rutgers. Maryland needs their offense to heat up to have any chance of winning, after averaging 14 ppg in the last 2 weeks.

Prediction

It’s hard to imagine Michigan losing this game, but there are some things going in Maryland’s favor. Early noon kickoffs are notoriously unpredictable, with players often more sluggish than usual. The Wolverines are also on the road here, and they could be trapped by looking ahead to Ohio State. Head coach Jim Harbaugh is also suspended for this game. Despite all that, I still see Michigan winning easily once again.
