Preview

Notre Dame looked equally as impressive in Week 1 as they had in Week 0. They won in commanding fashion against Tennessee State on Saturday, ending the game up 56-3. QB Sam Hartman went 14 for 17 for 194 yards and 2 TDs before resting in the 2nd half. The Fighting Irish will face both their first road test and first power-5 opponent this week against NC State. A date with Ohio State in two weeks also looms.

NC State had a bit of a tough task in Week 1, being forced to go on the road in their opener. They didn’t play exceptionally well against UConn, but they did enough to avoid an upset and get the win. They now head back for their home opener against #10 Notre Dame. If the Wolfpack can pull off an upset here, they’ll launch into the Top 25. The rushing ability of QB Brennan Armstrong could be their biggest chance.

Prediction

The fact that NC State has home field advantage in this game should make it a bit more interesting, but it’s hard to imagine them pulling off the upset regardless. This Notre Dame team is different than years past thanks to finally having consistent quarterback play. The Fighting Irish should be able to win comfortably.
