Oklahoma survived in a dangerous game against UCF, escaping with a 31-29 win. The victory salvaged their hopes of going undefeated and making the CFP, though it also raised some concerns. The Sooners entered that game as 17-point favorites. They’ll need to play much better on the road against a tough Kansas team to avoid a disappointment. Their defense has been the biggest cause for concern this year.
Kansas had the week off to rest and prepare for this game, after losing to Oklahoma State the week prior. They’re now 2-2 in Big-12 play, with both wins coming against two of the Big-12’s newest teams. They have a chance for a signature win against an Oklahoma team that was nearly exposed by UCF last week. They’ll need backup QB Jason Bean to keep playing well, with starter Jalon Daniels remaining sidelined.
Prediction
Oklahoma’s performance last week made me less confident in their ability to win this game, but it also may have served as a good wake-up call that no team should be overlooked. Kansas will certainly put up a fight at home, but the absence of starting QB Jalon Daniels will likely be too much for the Jayhawks to overcome against a top-6 team. I’ll take the Sooners to win it by a solid margin and cover the spread too.
