Preview
Oklahoma improved to 5-0 with their win over Iowa State. QB Dillon Gabriel has been exceptional so far this season. He currently ranks 4th in all of college football with an 89.4 QBR. With Gabriel playing at an elite level, the Sooners offense has been firing on all cylinders. While their defense has also been solid, they do have some areas to improve on that side of the ball that will need to be addressed to beat Texas.
Texas owns perhaps the most impressive win in the country after beating #11 Alabama on the road by 10 points. They added to their rรฉsumรฉ last week, beating then-ranked #24 Kansas, 40-14. If the Longhorns defeat the Sooners this week, they should climb to #1 overall in the rankings. QB Quinn Ewers has taken major steps forward as a sophomore, currently ranked 12th in the nation in QBR. Texas is tough to beat.
Prediction
This is the premier game of another weekend of great matchups. Both of these teams are undefeated, with a solid chance of winning out following this game. While the loser won’t be out of CFP contention, the winner will become the Big-12’s CFP frontrunner and favorite to win the conference. Both teams have played great, but Texas has beaten much tougher opponents so far. I’m taking the Longhorns to win here.
