Ole Miss has an opportunity to reach 11 wins for the first time in program history in this game. It’s been an incredible turnaround under 4th-year head coach Lane Kiffin, who has taken the Rebels to four straight bowl games and a 33-15 (.688) record in his tenure so far. Ole Miss had gone just 20-28 (.417) over the 4 seasons prior to Kiffin taking over. They’ll aim to claim their first NY6 bowl win since the 2015 Sugar Bowl.

Penn State had a nearly identical season to last year, going 10-0 in games not against Michigan and Ohio State, but 0-2 against their top rivals. Last season, they capped it off with a win in the Rose Bowl, after failing to make the CFP, and will aim for a similar result in this year’s Peach Bowl. The Nittany Lions have a bright future with young QB Drew Allar, but also must prepare for an even more crowded Big-10 next year.

Prediction

This should be a great matchup between two teams that had very solid seasons. It will be important to keep an eye on any key opt-outs or transfer portal announcements prior to this game. Based on where the teams currently stand, I see this being a defensive battle that ends on the low-scoring side. Penn State may be less experienced on offense, but their dominant defense should be the key to winning this game.
