Oregon State bounced back from their defeat in Week 4 with a trouncing of #10 Utah in Week 5. They dominated the Utes defensively, holding them to just 7 points. It was an encouraging bounce back for a top-ranked defense that had a very mediocre showing against Washington State in the week prior. The Beavers now enter a lighter part of their schedule, looking to accumulate wins before the final two weeks.

California continues to trade wins and losses each week. They won in Weeks 1, 3, and 5, but lost in Weeks 2 and 4. They’ll try to break that trend against Oregon State in Week 6, but face an uphill battle. Cal needs their offense to heat up to have a shot against a tough Beavers defense. They averaged just 2.3 ypc last week against Arizona State, and completed no passing touchdowns. They need a complete turnaround.

Prediction

The Golden Bears have the advantage of being at home in this game, but are otherwise outmatched by Oregon State. They’ll have to rely on their defense to keep the Beavers from scoring too many points. If they can’t do that, it’ll be tough for their struggling offense to keep up. I’m not expecting a massive blowout, but I see Oregon State winning this game pretty comfortably and covering the spread as well.
