  • Oregon State defeated San Diego State last week, winning by a score of 26-9.
  • Washington State won 64-21 in a dominant victory against Norther Colorado.
  • These two teams last met on October 15, in a game Oregon State won 24-10.

Week 4 of the college football season is here. Let’s preview the Oregon State vs Washington State game.

Preview

Oregon State continued to look impressive in their win over San Diego State. They started a little slow, but pulled away in the 2nd half and didn’t look back. The Beavers have a capable defense again this season, but the addition of QB DJ Uiagalelei has really taken the team to a new level. With both sides of the ball firing on all cylinders, Oregon State has risen into the top-15, and will be in the fight for the Pac-12 title.

Washington State is one of the Pac-12’s eight ranked teams, and probably the biggest surprise among them. Last season, the Cougars started in a similar way, opening 3-0 with a win against #19 Wisconsin as the best of those wins. They went 4-6 for the rest of the season after that. They’ll be fighting for a better finish this year, and should be able to claim one with a much more developed Cam Ward at QB this season.

Prediction

This is likely to be the weekend’s best matchup. The future of the Pac-12 is these two teams, who were left on the outside looking in after the latest round of conference re-alignment. Both programs are more than just their football teams, but a good finish in football will certainly help their argument of deserving to be in a power conference. I like the Cougars’ chances of winning this one at home in front of a loud crowd.
